Obscurity
I have collected albums for years. These days I don't do that much anymore as I don't want to file any more albums and so much music is hear-able on blogs. Lately, since this is our 21st year of existence, we have been working on album of a soul singer singing the Luaka Bop song book. Finding the right singer has been a bit of an odyssey which took me to exploring many possibilities of singers who may have only made an album or two (or in some cases only a couple of singles). This started me thinking about how soul music seems like an endless wellspring of the regional and the obscure, more so then jazz, more so then Latin music, two other genres I have spent a lot of time exploring. One singer I was tipped to, unfortunately who is no longer with us, is Lee Moses. Of course in the collector soul world he is somewhat of a legend as very little is known about him and he is so great.
I notice there are times when undeniably great things seem just ok, if that is the case with this track listen to it again, maybe through a different computer system or...louder.
