Doug Hream Blunt’s first international performances are confirmed for London’s Field Day Festival in June and he’s recruiting a band of local amateur musicians to back him at the event, with more dates to follow! A new band every night!
In the spirit of the “How To Form A Band” classes Doug took in San Francisco in the late eighties, musicians of various levels of experience are invited to respond to adverts on Craigslist, Gumtree and elsewhere calling for ‘mellow musicians’ of ‘all genres / instruments / persuasions’, with the only stipulation being that they gotta ‘fall into a groove – and then move’.
Having never played for any audience — besides a few patients at the hospital ward where he used to work, and one-off filmed sets for a local cable access show — these mark his first live performances. A different lineup will play at each show, with further dates planned in New York, Los Angeles, New Orleans and San Francisco!
And the call is still open!!
We talked to Doug and this is what he said:
