It’s winter (in America). A lot of people are going through really tough times right now, and we just want to say that we’re thinking of you. Hope you’re alright. In the meantime, we’ll be putting out records because that’s what we do. For us, music is a balm. Maybe music from this family band can be one for you.

 are a family from West Point, Mississippi, who play a powerful disco soul. They’re led by their mother, Ms. Annie Caldwell—she’s backed by daughters Deborah, Anjessica, and goddaughter Toni Rivers; her eldest son Willie Jr. is on the bass, her youngest son Abel Aquirius is on drums, and her husband of the last fifty years, Willie Joe Sr., is on guitar. 

They just announced their new album with this song, along with a video filmed in their hometown.

” is about the time Deborah cheated (!) with a married man (!) — and her family told her she was 

 (Just like they do in the song!). It’s an absolute banger. The video was shot in a single take in downtown West Point with the local sheriff blocking traffic, our own Eric Welles-Nyström directing, and our fave cinematographer Adam Wissing walking backwards, camera slung over his shoulder. This all happened right outside Ms. Annie’s store, 

, which has been a beloved staple for women dressing for COGIC (

) convocations and church anniversaries, since she started the business in the ’80s.

When the band isn’t driving to churches across the South to play in gospel programs — music influenced by The Gap Band, Chaka Kahn, Bootsy Collins — they’re working: Willie Jr. drives a forklift in Tupelo, Abel Aquirius drives hospital patients around the Mississippi prairie, Anjessica works in customer care for an insurance company, Toni is an elementary school teacher, and
